Under the moniker Viking Funeral Juan Gonzalez and Carlos Ascurra collaboratively explore the constructs of DIY music subcultures. Through the use of sculpture, collage, sound, and performance they examine the self-governed parameters, identities, and propaganda formed by annexed groups of people. Their work occasionally attempts to deconstruct or confuse vernacular via fake flyers for shows, and fake fanzines, etc. Although, as a point of distinction, Viking Funeral also functions in a “scene” as a band which plays (subversively) live and loud.

Holly Hunt is a band that was formed by three artists in their shared art studio in Miami. Beatriz Monteavaro, Gavin Perry, and Nick Klein each have their own independent art practices mostly working in drawing and sculpture. Nick and Beatriz are also musicians. Beatriz plays drums in the band Beings, and was formerly a drummer for such lauded Sludge Metal bands as Floor and Cavity. In accordance with most laborious daily endeavors (i.e. art) made in close proximity of one another (i.e. art studios), there will tend to be evidence of those activities done collectively which counter-balance the monotony of work (i.e. Holly Hunt).
